Richard Silverstein: independent journalist, publisher: Tikun Olam blog

A recent CAIR report suggests that scores of wealthy donors, both foundations and individuals, donated over $100 million to groups accused of hate speech, racism and Islamophobia.
Some donors giving the most funds are closely affiliated with the Israel lobby or wealthy Christians or Muslims, whose funding is a major factor in promoting Islamophobia. Many of the groups who received these donations were founded and are run by pro-Israel activists, and are leading purveyors of Islamophobia.
Muslim and Jewish activists have warned about efforts of the Israel Lobby to normalize relations with American-Muslims. Examples of this are the Shalom Hartman Institute's Muslim Leadership Initiative and the AJC's Muslim-Jewish Advisor Council. Their normalization efforts promote pro-Israel interests, and initiatives like the Abraham Accords--not those of American Muslims.
Cries of "anti-Semitism" and similar attacks against Muslim-Americans are a red-herring argument seeking to divert attention from the damaging impact they have of the Muslim community and Palestinian solidarity.
